The Spark

From Curiosity to Code

My journey began not in a classroom, but with a screwdriver and an insatiable curiosity. As a kid, I couldn’t resist taking apart electronics—not to break them, but to understand the magic happening inside. That same drive to understand, to build, to improve has been the constant thread weaving through every chapter of my career.

While working at Best Buy’s Geek Squad, I discovered that fixing computers wasn’t enough. I craved creation, not just restoration. So I embarked on a transformative journey, spending nights and weekends evolving from someone who repaired technology to someone who architected it. Self-taught and relentless, I turned curiosity into capability, one line of code at a time.

The Crucible

Forged by Fire, Tempered by Challenge

Sometimes the most valuable lessons come wrapped in the most difficult experiences. At RevLogical, I dove headfirst into the deep end of software engineering—mobile apps, real-time systems, IoT integration with drones and LiDAR. I was learning exponentially, but paying a steep price: 120+ hour weeks, no boundaries, constant pressure.

It wasn’t sustainable, but it was transformational. I emerged with battle-tested skills and an unshakeable understanding of what great engineering culture should—and shouldn’t—look like. Every sleepless night taught me resilience. Every impossible deadline taught me prioritization. Every system I built taught me the elegance of well-architected solutions.

Then Dictionary.com found me. They didn’t just hire an engineer with broad exposure—they invested in someone who could grow, lead, and inspire others. Within six months, I was leading teams. Within a year, I was managing Platform, Core Systems, Mobile, and Machine Learning engineering across the organization.

The Evolution

From Engineering Excellence to Transformational Leadership

The acquisition of Dictionary.com by IXL marked both an ending and a beginning. Saying goodbye to the team I’d helped build was one of the hardest professional moments of my career—but it crystallized something important: I wasn’t just building software anymore. I was building people, processes, and possibilities.

At MFour Mobile Research, I discovered the power of metrics-driven engineering excellence. My focus on data-driven transformation led to breakthrough improvements across every dimension of team performance.

But I also learned that growth isn’t always upward. Sometimes markets shift, priorities change, and even the best-laid plans must adapt. The experience taught me resilience and reinforced my commitment to sustainable, people-first leadership.

At Propio Language Services, I’ve found my stride as an engineering leader who bridges the gap between strategic vision and tactical execution. But something else emerged during this journey—a deep fascination with the intersection of language, technology, and human connection that’s pulling me toward my next evolution.

The Convergence

Where Engineering Meets Intelligence

As I complete my BS in Computer Science at SNHU this August—specializing in Machine Learning & AI with advanced coursework in calculus, differential equations, and statistical modeling—I’m not just earning a degree. I’m preparing for the next chapter of my story.

The convergence is powerful: over a decade of production engineering experience, deep leadership wisdom, and now the mathematical foundation to tackle the most exciting frontier in technology. My weekend experiments with audio processing and speech synthesis aren’t just hobbies—they’re glimpses into a future where I can combine my passion for building systems with the transformative potential of AI.

Working alongside our VP of ML and AI at Propio has confirmed what I suspected: the most impactful solutions emerge when engineering excellence meets artificial intelligence. I’m not abandoning leadership—I’m evolving it, bringing strategic thinking and systems architecture to the world of machine learning.

Curious about the technical experiments and research that fuel this transition? Dive into my project portfolio where you’ll find everything from NLP implementations to audio processing prototypes, complete with code walkthroughs and technical insights.

My Next Chapter

The Impact

Building Tomorrow, Today

This isn’t just about career progression—it’s about leveraging technology to connect people across barriers of language, distance, and difference. My formative years in Okinawa instilled a deep appreciation for communication across cultures. My leadership experience taught me that the best solutions serve human needs first, technical elegance second.

As I transition toward ML/AI specialization, I carry with me:

  • The curiosity that drove me to take apart my first computer
  • The resilience forged through challenging projects and difficult decisions
  • The leadership wisdom earned by building and nurturing high-performing teams
  • The technical excellence proven across multiple domains and industries
  • The strategic thinking that transforms complex problems into elegant solutions

The future of technology isn’t just about what we can build—it’s about what we choose to build, and why. I’m committed to creating AI solutions that amplify human potential rather than replace human connection.

Let's Connect
